SGV partners with USL for Accounting updates
The Sycip Gorres Velayo or SGV, considered the top accounting firm in the country, partnered with the University of Saint Louis for a whole-day seminar for USL senior BS Accountancy students last Feb. 24, 2015. Fourth year and fifth year students and Accountancy instructors attended the said seminar.
The speakers from SGV focused on: Fundamentals of Auditing delivered by Mr. Cliff Richard Narag, SGV’s Associate Director for Assurance Services; Appreciation and Valuation of Derivatives by Ms. Sheila Marie Antonio, Senior Associate, Assurance Services; and Business Law and Taxation by Mr. Salvador Rey III, Associate Director, Global Compliance and Reporting Group.
Narag is former governor of USL’s School of Business Administration and Accountancy.
Ms. Julie Ann Rubia of SGV’s Human Resources department said that the seminar was the firm’s way of expressing its gratitude to the University, for many of its Accountancy graduates are now employed in the said company.
USL’s first placers in the CPA Board Examination, Mr. Richie Jackson Padilla (2008), Mr. Jackson Apostol (2013), and Mr. Mark Anthony Tacuboy (2014) are now with the said company. USL’s fourth placer in the Oct. 2014 CPA board exam, Mr. Mc Lein Bagunu, and 60 other Louisian CPA’s are likewise with SGV.
Tacuboy and Bagunu shared some CPA licensure exam review tips at the seminar.
